Oil slick?

Oil Slick In Swanage Bay?

There seems to be a nasty trace of oil amongst the seaweed just now. (Tuesday 11th May)

Has anyone else noticed the creamy streaks in the tide and on the beach?

Probably a tanker washing its tanks out - illegally.

All those wretched jet skis no doubt.
Or pehaps an excess of lubricants washed off the dunes at studland

One hopes. The puppetmasters of NL have scarpered. Milliband looks like a deer in headlights.

New Labour is now discredited; Old Labour is an anacronism. I wonder if, long term, LibDems are poised to become the real alternative to Conservatism in place of Labour??

An interesting idea but as 90% of LD voters regard them selves as being on the left it could be labour that benefits from the coalition as they are now the only show in town if you don't support the neo-thatcherites.

Its funny how its only opponents of labour who are fixated on the new-labour v old-labour business. Nobody within the labour party is interested in it but its a harmless diversion for the name callers.

The way the tory party runs itself is interesting. Do we see a return to rule by something akin to the old grandees? Thatcher's cabinet was described as containing more Estonians than Etonians but this one is stuffed with the latter. Has the experiment of having the party fronted by lower middle class upstarts been consigned to history I wonder. Maybe they no longer feel the need to hire in ruffians from the lower orders.

The labour leadership stakes seem to revolve round which Oxford college you support. The Milibands (Haverstock Comp, Camden Town) went to Christ Church, Balls (a private school in Nottingham) to Keble. Mrs Balls (also a comprehensive school) AKA Yvette Cooper went to Balliol, a very intellectual place and seems to outsmart all of them but she is not standing.

Self made business men and horny handed sons of toil seem to be off the agenda for both parties now.

isnt it because self made business men and horny handed men of toil cant be bothered to get involved? Theres plenty of room for them and they bring different outlooks and skills to the table. A good mix is all that is required but that seems a little difficult at present.
