The Mowlem

The Mowlem ....I know this is a favorite subject but has anyone looked closely at the building lately. Paint peeling of any piece of timber that hasn't rotted away, rusting metalwork and signs that are falling to pieces. Most worrying is the cracks that are appearing on the concrete by the sea end. If whoever runs it isn't interested in sorting it out then it should be taken over and sorted out once and for all. The building is a hideous eyesore

They don't seem to care what things look like at all. Odd for a so-called artistic establishment. You just have to look at the crappy posters they put in the downstairs window, like some junior school's first efforts. And have you seen the way they painted the loos and the signs they use.

I'd start by puttng both bars and the restauarant out to tender- to get someone in there interested in making money by serving the general public what they want to eat and drink + with a smile.

I am sure we all agree with these criticisms. On a factual point the restaurant and bar have always been let out to Hall and Woodhouse who have said they will be refurbishing both soon.

Perhaps the posters can ask the management what they intend doing about the condition of the place and whether they should seek outside advice about attracting funding as they don't seem able to do it unassisted. Calling itself an art centre invites action under the trade descriptions act.
