The Pier

The Pier is a listed building right? It has had lottery money and the like? Why do they allow the crappy portacabins and caravans on there? It would also be nice to get rid of the parked cars and vans. Why not build a proper dive centre and give the pier back to the strollers and anglers?

The pier would be a good place for a farmers market

Swanage has a unique charm about it, but I realy feel it need to be brought into the 21st Century. In my opinion, and I know some people will disagree, Swanage has the potential to change for the better. The pier is very run down area and a eye sore. Visit other sea side resorts there are whole areas pedestrianised with cafe bars, juice bars, stalls and unique shops with couple and famalies buzzing around.
Swanage is crying out for something like ths. It is a GREAT place but by developing the town it would encourage day trippers and holiday families. At night it could be lit up with live music(not loud) patio heaters and give the town another dimension. If people agree then we should be putting pressure on councillors and planning depts to let this happen. Unless something is done the people will stop coming into the town as apart from pubs and youths who congregate and either cause trouble or intimidate peoplewhatis there for them.
A long rant I know but there is so much going for the place.
