Posters

"I thought recent posts have been interesting and comments lively - wrote Bill Storer under the topic 'Hard News?'

But posts seem to have dried up since "The technology does exist to track down the computers from which posts are sent" - The Postman under the topic 'Newzzz'.

Was anybody else put off by this? Can The Postman assure us that he does not have access to this technology? If he does, can he assure us that he has not and will not use it to determine the identity of those posting?

I can assure you that I can't do this. What I meant was that if things get into vindictive, malicious libel, slander etc, then the courts/police can and will no doubt track computers down.
Your friendly neighbourhood postman ...

Has blogger stopped recording the ip address of posted messages now? Last time i had a blog on there they recorded the ip address of any messages posted.

It seems there are some third party logging tools for blogs but only the host knows whos posting what and thats only down to ip address level. You need a warrant to get that sort of info from a ISP so i dont suppose that a few comments about people in town is worth the hassle :)

BTW, you are welcome to wash the car if you dont have anything better to do. Could start a new business in town washing cars :)

Could the reason that posts have gone quiet is because everyone has had enough with the season now being over and have all gone on holiday?

An interesting possibility, but one that presumes the 'interesting' posts have been made by a person or people associated with the tourist industry (if they were, wouldn't they have been too busy?) and that they can afford to take time off now!
There is another possibility: it was all the work of one person who saw the website getting stale and thought she or he would liven up the different topics and add some of her or his own, adding comments, even on the same topic, developing differing views!
