New subject

If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment here — just click first on Comments below, then type in 'Post a comment' (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized. And any posts that become too provocative, insulting, threatening or otherwise unpleasant will be deleted.

JUBILEE STREET CLEAN UP

Should the community clean the toilets and the streets and remove the graffitti from street signs in the weekend before the Jubilee holiday?

BATHING WATER QUALITY

All the beaches in our area passed the water quality test. Kimmeridge only achieved the minimum standard. Would you recommend going for a swim in the sea and where is the best place to swim?

DIDN'T VOTE

For the first time since I became eligible to vote 5 years ago I did not vote yesterday.

I recieved info from the 3 main parties about their 'promises' but they all attack each other and the promises they make are often unbelievable. Having never seen any of the candidates, it's not possible to make my mind up based on 3 pieces of paper.

What would people think about having a local debate, maybe at the Mowlem, between the candidates next time. With the turnout as low as it has been across the country, it would seem that more needs to be done to help people make their minds up about who to vote for.
Cheers,
Tom

I was in hospital yesterday but still dragged myself out to vote. Its a privilege that many have died for and many still will. The problem with people like you not voting it can put people in that in no way should be allowed public office.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." That saying is attributed to Edmund Burke (1729-1797). Whoever said it, it surely contains a great truth. Tom, I think you should always vote rather than leave it to others to decide. But remember one thing: all candidates sincerely believe they stand for what is best for their country/county/district.

I think that local elections should only be for independant canditates that way one can assess the person rather than the party and know that they will act according to their own conscience rather on party lines.

Is "DIDN'T VOTE" going to be given its own heading rather than being stuck here? Not many people read the "New Subject" headings unless they are very regular usersof the forum.
